Any warranty we give on your job, with its term and what it covers, is always set out in writing in the quote — so you see it in black and white before you agree. The warranty covers our own work: how we carried it out. Manufacturers' warranties on materials and appliances are passed on to you where they apply. If the quote gives no warranty term for (part of) the work, your statutory rights apply — and you keep those in any case: the work must match what was agreed and what you may reasonably expect of it.
The process, step by step

Assessing the substrate
We look at the condition of the walls and ceilings and check for cracks, loose layers, damp patches and imperfections.

Preparation
Where needed, the substrate is cleaned, primed and prepared so the plaster adheres properly.

Plastering
Walls or ceilings are plastered carefully, to the agreed level of finish.
- Step 4
Drying & handover
After the plastering we check the result and talk through the drying time needed before further finishing.
Possible additional work
Depending on the condition of the substrate, additional work may be needed, such as removing old layers, repairing cracks, fitting corner beads, applying primer, treating damp patches, ceiling repairs, sanding or preparation for painting. We discuss this beforehand and do not carry it out without your agreement.

Plaster made ready for wallpapering is usually not finished as finely, because small imperfections show less under wallpaper. We discuss the level of finish you want beforehand, depending on your final finish and the way the light falls.
We can plaster both walls and ceilings. Ceilings often need extra attention for flatness, the way the light falls, access and the existing substrate. With older ceilings we first assess whether repair, pre-treatment or replacement of loose sections is needed.
The drying time depends on the thickness of the layer, ventilation, temperature and humidity. It is important that plaster is dry enough before any painting is done. Painting too early can lead to staining, poor adhesion or differences in colour.
Besides smooth plastering, other finishes may be possible, such as decorative plaster, a textured finish or spray work. What is possible depends on the substrate, the look you want and the size of the project. We discuss this beforehand.
Not always, but on many substrates primer matters for good adhesion and even drying. The right preparation depends on the absorbency and the condition of the substrate.
On substrates that move, or where there is structural movement, cracks can become visible again later. When we see existing cracks, we discuss beforehand which preparation makes sense.
